José Gomes

I’m the first Zé at finiam, so I ended up keeping the name. If necessary to distinguish from all the others, I’m José Gomes. I’m the CEO of finiam, which means I really don’t know what I’m doing and winging it most of the time. Usually, that means doing whatever is necessary at any given moment, figuring out how we’ll have enough money in the bank for payroll, managing the team as little as possible and figuring out what’s going on around the space we work on.

Originally, I’m from Nogueira da Regedoura in Santa Maria da Feira. In reality, it’s a lot closer to Espinho, so I usually say I’m from Espinho to most people. It’s right in the border between the districts of Aveiro and Porto.

Currently, I live in Braga, where I ended up because I attended University of Minho, doing my bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and master’s degree in Bioinformatics. As you can see, somewhat of a random path to CEO of a fintech service company that now focus on web3 and cryptotolices .

On a more personal take, I really like to run and I’m training to eventually do a Ironman, hopefully by the end of 2023. I love reading and try to do it everyday. I enjoy all the usual suspects, movies, series, music (I mostly listen to Discovery Weekly and albums I find there nowadays), videogames and perhaps more unusual, boardgames. I think I’m introverted, even if in some situations it might not look like it. Way more ambitious than capable. Competitive, in the sense that if I see someone doing anything within what I find achievable, I feel that I should also be able to do it.
